So i found this tutorial on FPSB and i figure why not spread the wealth to everyone/anyone who would like to start modeling items in 3ds max, i found this tutorial VERY thurough and has helped me learn everything need to make a pistol in 3ds and while doing so you will learn how the 3ds program works.
Through these tutorials you will learn how to:
** Model a weapon (in this case a glock)
** Creating the UV maps
** Basic texturing of the gun
** Creating your own rig
** Animating it
** And lastly compiling it
This tutorial is brought to you by the user Stormy from Game-Artist.Net, a community for and by game artists.
This set of tutorials is intended to help and guide people through the full process of creating a weapon and compiling it into the Half-Life 2 Source Engine. The tutorials are going to be released in chapters, each of which will focus on a specific area of the pipeline from modeling through texturing and compiling and finally compiling into Counter-Strike: Source.
So basically if u are completely new to all this and you really want to learn and create a weapon and get it ingame, these tutorial series of pure awesomeness is for you ! They can also be useful if say, you already know how to model but doesnt know how to Unwrap for example.
