Goldeneye-Esque Aiming using code from SMOD.
« on: February 27, 2008, 08:23:14 pm »

I've been wanting the "Loose" style of aiming that debuted in GE64, in GE:S for a while now. I think I have found something that would make that wish true. SMOD for Half-Life 2 has a console Command to change aiming mode to something identical to Goldeneye's, where the crosshair and weapon aim are controlled independently, same idea as pressing the R button to aim in GE64. Unless such a feature is already in 1.5, I'd suggest talking to SMOD's creator, for permission to use it in GE:S, and have it expand on the current aim button, to enable/disable it with a keypress. Eg. GE:S's Shift to go into aim mode.

Check out [SM]'s HL2: Deathmatch Server! I've worked hard on making it the best it can be.

Hmmm, as far as I know, GES aiming is identical to the GE64 one, except the slowing down movements during crossairs aiming. I may be completely wrong, but I don't understand your claim.

Aim mode in GE:S currently moves the whole screen while using it. In GE64 it would only move the cropshair around.

He brought up a good point, that I'm sure most of us haven't even noticed.

Perfect Dark: Source has it and is still working to perfect it. Just FYI. Also the Source mod Insurgency has this game mechanic. I think all FPS's should work this way.
