Before you read any further, you'll need to know what's right in front of you, and can open very large doors.
If you didn't guess knockers - click
for the weekly update. If you did guess correctly, move onto the Severnaya Bunker, astonishingly mapped by Semedi. If you were impressed by Runway a few weeks back, prepare to be impressed again. Whether you know the game, movie, or both, you'll instantly recognize the setting from the first screenshot. Bunker was the only level in Goldeneye 64 to be featured in singleplayer twice and also in multiplayer. Arguably, it was the most played three player multiplayer stage in GE64 due to its interesting floorplan, style, and unique areas. Although it is a rather large level, the layout is simple to follow and most importantly, fun to play. One noticable difference that Semedi took when designing the map is that the lighting is tad darker than the original, giving it a more sleek look and at the same time enhancing the interior design, making new content made specifically for the map stand out more.
The first screenshot is the perfect design combination between the movie and the game, of the main control room. Notice all the new decals, textures, and props like the computer consoles, the Goldeneye key, etc:
And the second reveals the outdoor portion of the map, complete with the Tiger Helicopter from a previous update. This was always a favorite spot in the original to duke it out 1 on 1 or free for all:
In the third is the room you entered when entering the first bunker level in Goldeneye 64 singleplayer, when dropping in from Surface:
And the fourth and final gives you an idea of the interior corridors:
I'm really at a loss of words, this map has been in the works for quite some time and it keeps getting better and better, designed after the game and movie while being more than suitable for gameplay. I think it has the potential to be one of the most popular maps in an up and coming release
.
Coming up next week - the GE terrorist's weapon of choice.
