I've always had a soft spot for the first appearance of the laser weapon in Moonraker, in particular the meaty 70s-Battlestar-Galactica-style sound it makes (interestingly the sound is different later in the film). Because of that I thought I'd make an alternative MR firing sound for GE:S. Here's the part of the movie I've based it on:

For anyone interested, it's a fairly simple envelope-driven resonant filter shaping a white noise source mixed with a modulated tone followed by a lot of EQ, compression, stereo tweaking etc.

One day I'll release a giant pack of model/sound replacements, but I'll say right now that this sound is much more refined than the one i use.
