I'm getting back into those wrestling games. Not a fan of the TV shows but the wrestling games have always entertained me. So I'm going to get a console to battle online with strangers to prove I am the WORLD HEAVY CHAMPION!1!

But I don't know what to get - PS3 or XBox live. Since I'm going to invest a couple hundred dollars, I'm going to get more than just a wrestling game. I wanna buy a few more games to enjoy.I don't keep up with consoles or games anymore but which is the better bang for my buck?


Pros and cons of each system kinda weigh evenly:

Xbox 360 - cheaper than PS3 but you have to pay for Xbox live. On top of that, the Xbox seems way more dated. A lot of games.

PS3 - more expensive upfront but free online network. Better graphics and better multi-functionality than the 360. I know a s**t-ton people who have PS3 in real life compared to the two people I know with a 360.


Basically, I'm looking to see what you guys have to say about this. Give me your pros and cons.

Graphics on the PS3 are generally only marginally better than the Xbox 360, particularly for titles which are released on both as there is very little change between ports. To put that into perspective graphically the differences are usually in the shaders and effects rather than texture resolution and polycount. PS3 exclusive games however do in most cases have superior graphics.

Really I'd say it depends if you're intending on playing online extensively. If so I'd probably suggest the PS3 because in the long run that will work out cheaper. Whereas if you're mainly interested in singleplayer and don't care for online multiplayer the Xbox 360 will probably be easier on your wallet.

Though personally I don't own any consoles at the moment and have no intention of owning any. PCs will always reign supreme in hardware, usage and capability as an unlimited platform for an infinitely large array of purposes. But that's irrelevant to this topic.

I own a PS3, and the reason I purchased it is I got a pretty good deal, and all my friends have PS3's. PS3 includes a Blueray player, so that is a big bonus. PS3 has better upgrade ability, you can change the HDD in the PS3 to a larger one if you run out of room, or want to store your entire music/movie library on it. Free online is also very nice.

Xbox has a better controller. The GUI seems better for communicating/playing with friends.

But the PS3 is a pretty robust machine. You could easily use it as a media center as well as a game console.

Hmm, I'm the opposite of you two. I know a whopping one person with a PS3 in my area, yet I know buttloads of people with Xbox 360. I own both systems but primarily play on the Xbox for that reason.

I would say just go with the one you have more friends on. It's a lot more fun to play with buds than to play with random people.

Xbox Live is a joke. Paying money towards an PS3 is a big up front investment, but least you do not have to worry about paying to play online.

I own an XBox 360, And the only time I ever play it is with my buddies when we want to kick a coop game of Gears of War or Resident evil 5. Other than that, Its collecting dust.

If you want to play online, XBox 360 is filled with childrens. I don't know about the PS3.

Sorry if this is not very constructive but I regret buying an XBox 360 for playing online and such, The only thing that was really worth it was the fun I had playing co-op games with my friends.
