Since we are not making original Intellectual Property, no company with legal entities can publicly support us (via file distribution and promotion of content). It would be a law suit risk for Valve or DesuraNET to support us via Steamworks, and Desura platform ; respectively.
We are easily popular enough and quality enough to be on these special platforms. We WOULD be on steamworks from beta 3 onwards if we were allowed access. This is disappointing in the sense the fanbase does not get such perks available with our mod, as other mods that perhaps have equal or less quality productions.
As enzo said. We are in the future (hopefully only months) going to have our own system of checking for updates. So for instance, you open the game and it tells you "you are out of date" etc and clicking a button in game automatically loads a content update that installs all by itself, and then you restart steam manually for it to initiate.
