Gold looks the way it does because it is reflecting the surrounding light (and image when it's smooth enough). Just picking a color called Gold won't do much, you need to give it enough variation to fool the viewer into correlating the image with something that a gold object might look like.

Well I did use gradient but I guess it wasn't harsh enough.
