Compatiblility with Oculus Rift?
« on: July 13, 2013, 06:27:23 am »

Hi everyone, I would like to ask if the devs have thought about incorporating GES into Oculus Rift?

What is Oculus Rift?

Quote from Wikipedia

"The Oculus Rift is an upcoming high field of view (FOV), low-latency, consumer-priced virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). It is being developed by Oculus VR, who have raised $16 million, of which $2.4 million was raised during a Kickstarter campaign. The company was founded by Palmer Luckey and the co-founders of Scaleform. The Oculus Rift has been endorsed by John Carmack, Dean Hall, Gabe Newell, Cliff Bleszinski, Michael Abrash, Tim Sweeney, Chris Roberts, Markus Persson, David Helgason, as well as president of Sony Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida and others."

Can you imagine the possibilities with this? It would make GE:Source a lot of fun. What are your thoughts? Has anyone received a dev kit?

We already know that TF2 works with this device.

The problem that I know is that there would be no support in the 2007 SDK we use.  If we do move to 2013 like we are currently planning the support for it "should" be default.

Other than that I know I am thinking about getting a pair..  and maybe the omni too.
