Life, The Universe, and Everything
« on: July 11, 2007, 07:49:22 pm »

This is a Q&A thread where you, dear reader, may ask the Hero of Dreams any question you like; about life, the universe, and everything, anything as long as it is not related to GoldenEye Source, and I will impart my mystical Dream Hero wisdom upon you. Who will be the first to benefit of my boundless knowledge?

- The answer to your question is get your own question and answer thread, smartypants!

- The MBP has a larger frontside bus, and apple kneecaps the macbook with a max 2Gb of memory, so have fun rendering frequently, plus no firewire 800 to grow into is a let down. The macbook's gpu is also gayhole, and doesn't have a mini dvi hook up i don't think. It could probably handle FCS2 only a marginally worse off than it's big brother the majority of the time, but it misses alot of avenues to expand its power over time and could be a drag during system intensive operations. So I'd say hunt down a MBP through the refurb section on the apple online store, since they come with a 1 year warranty which you can extend with applecare. I can see two 17 inchers outfitted with $3k range equipment going to about $2200. There are other ways and means to get your paws on FCS2. Essentially it comes down to how hard the computer is going to be used, what the editing environment is like, how frequent the computer is going to have to perform memory intensive tasks, all of which is usually related to the nature of the film material and production value. For more casual stuff, the macbook is a fine machine, and the $1000 jump is pretty steep just for a larger screen and only slightly expanded capabilities that probably wouldn't come into play outside of a serious indie or professional studio. With the intel cpus giving mac machines clear upgrade paths too, it's hard to go wrong either way.

- I can't wait for the Dropbear to annihilate it

- 3, as decided in the legal precedent Owl v. Turtle

- I suppose Fecalphilia is almost too easy, but a girlturd in a saran wrap diaper is more weird than a fleshy stump by a mile

- rhetorical questions result in flagellation!

Why are there so many stupid 'know-it-alls' on Source games?
