So i have been trying to create a server for the past 2 days, i have followed the steps on the wiki how to, downloaded steamcmd, modified my server.cfg and valve.cfg which work, it all boots up saying its on the net but when i go in game its LAN (settings are not set to LAN), i have tried heartbeat, changemap, also fiddled with my firewall (this may be the issue so if anyone can give me a step by step guide if you think this is the issue) on outgoing i added my ports, but still LAN.

Would really appreciate your thoughts and advice here.

Try asking another friend to connect to your IP, or using a service like canyouseeme.org while the server is running.

It is normal for a locally hosted server to appear only under the LAN tab (most ISPs and home routers won't let you connect to your own IP).

Hello Soupcan,

I have tried to get a friend to connect using ip. No luck. My game shows as running in LAN but any type of search on the internet page does not show my game.

I have 2 incoming ports selected atm, 27015 + 27020 covering TCP & UPD wether thats important, i also turned off my firewall, again no luck.

Just seems strange its stuck in LAN, as i say i have changed map and used heartbeat.

Anything else?

Hmm, just used that canyouseeme, and it can not?

As i mentioned above i have set incoming ports 27015 & 27020 what have i done wrong?

Ok further update.

Managed to solve the port forwarding, but still only appears in LAN? It is not on NET and no one can join.

Any other ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!!??

Resolved. Basically set your forward port correctly!

Just a note, my game still does not appear on the NET page (for me) but for others it does.
