Hey guys, thought you'd like to check out this beta app I've gotten to try. Maybe someday GE:S will have an app like this?
Apparently Valve started that whole
Steam Mobile application
for more than just adding games to your wishlist and chatting with friends. They're planning on breaking into the mobile game business! And not just simple games like Angry Birds, but cool stuff that integrates with their other games. I managed to get a internal .apk of the Android Steam application with a rough TF2 mobile game! The game is in 3D and seems to let you interact with players on the PC.
The interface looks the same in the new version as the current public release
There's now a "Games" category in the Steam app
The "Games" page has Steam games (only TF2 Mobile at the moment) and lets you add other applications. Launching them through Steam doesn't seem to add anything, so not sure if they're planning on adding something later?
Launching TF2 Mobile takes forever (like, two minutes of this screen)
The landing screen of TF2 Mobile. Items directs you to a buggy backpack view.
Browse Servers kept giving me an error message even though I was connected to the Internet.
Training only has one option. Apparently mobile TF2 players can "jump" into the sentry of a PC engi and control their sentry gun (like a Wrangler sort of).
The Training let you fire a 3D turret around a little bit (it was really choppy and frames kept skipping). Not sure how the mechanic will work with human players, though. The models were pretty blocky, but then again I'm playing on a 7" tablet instead of a phone so the graphics probably look better scaled down.
Anyways, it's really cool and I'm looking forward to seeing how Valve improves it. It's the first time I've heard of a mobile game that let you actually play with PC/Console gamers. Hopefully this will hit Android phones (and maybe iPhones/iPad?) later this year.

Playing on a tablet vs. PCs is even worse than pitting a PS3 player vs. a PC player. I honestly don't see any sane reason for porting TF2 for tablets and smartphones unless the game is completely different from the PC counterpart.
