For my Game Development homework, ive been given the task of creating a game idea to pitch. It only has to be a rough idea, and it will be detailed out further later on.

I have to pick a genre: RPG, MMORPG, FPS, 3PS, ect, ect.

I have to imagine and create an Environment for the game to take place. (I dont have to pick 1 in particular, and that one place only, but it would simplify things)

And i have to have a backstory.

Since im an uncreative dick when it comes to imagining things, would you guys care to help me?

I'm not asking this to developers and moderators only, i'm asking any member who's curiosity was sparked enough to read this topic.

Pitch your ideas guys, my grades depend on it!

ok, so check this out:

Genre: FPS

Environment: France / Princess Peach's magical kingdom

Backstory:  French Nationalists have been working on secret, underground technology aimed to harness zero-point energy to solve the energy crisis.  They work underground because they are oppressed by the French government for the wanton riots they have caused throughout the years.

In the process of attempting to facilitate the use of zero-point energy, something goes horribly wrong, and the technology currently being developed malfunctions.

Instead of utilizing zero-point energy, it taps into the Alpha, Beta, and Delta waves of humans, thereby causing many to hallucinate their subconscious thoughts - including the main character.

Unfortunately, this isn't all that happens.  The malfunction also opens up a portal, through a Beta wave matrix construct, that allows characters from both Mario's (from Super Mario) world and from the real world to intermingle.

BAM!

That's a AAA title right there.  Only took 10 minutes too.

I'm going to take JJ's idea and flesh it out better, and make it more original.

The idea we decided on in class, is to take the Mario world and give it a hit of acid. We're talking about mixing ideas from Oblivion, Fallout, and Tim Burton's style of Cinematography.

And it will be something worthy of pitching to Rockstar Games.

The idea is to make the Mushroom Kingdom dark, dreary, and full of the fallout of the disaster caused by the French Incident. The world will be fully merged with earth, such as Peach's Castle in the middle of Central Park.

Bowser will be like Mehrunes Dagon in Oblivion, a monster of gigantic proportions, nearly unstoppable without finding out how to fix the problem that caused the merger in the first place.

Mario will be a mix of Rambo and Anthony Soprano, Peach will be like Pamela Anderson and Angelina Jolie.

Basically, the idea is to base it off the good elements of the Super Mario Brothers movie, with some original elements to make it play to the hardcore gamers who hate kiddie stuff, and like survival/horror type games.

JJmusicnotes, thanks for the brilliant idea. There is so much more I could capitalize on, so if anyone feels like adding further input, i'd appreciate it very much! Just help me make it original, and try to do away with anything that would be considered copyright infringement, while still keeping some parody of the mario world.
