Quantum Solace PC Demo Released!!
« on: October 08, 2008, 02:55:16 am »

I'm happy to hear that Treyarch has recently released a Demo of Quantum of Solace, their upcoming James Bond-themed first-person shooter game.

I have just spotted this demo on the Internet and I thought it'd be a good idea to let you guys know about it. As the name of the game suggests, the demo is based on the next James Bond movie. It's going to be released for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Wii, and Nintendo DS platforms on November 4th.

The demo weighs about 697 mb and can be downloaded from any of the mirrors below.

- WorthPlaying
- BigDownload
- FileFront
- FileShack

Do you feel the game is living up to the Bond name? Discuss.

Actually War world was the shortest demo ever they only let you play that game for 45 exact seconds.

anyhow the demo was short and fun to a point but everything felt kind of stiff.

Then again maybe I came in expecting something else from the COD4 engine, IDK.

I was very disappointed. The environments were very bland and the way the character moved felt honkey.  It just doesn't seem very polished at the moment.

Stupidest demo I've seen in a long time if not ever. Seems like another stupid scripted game, I played the demo twice, and played 100% same, this game is going to have zero replay value, sure I'll "acquire" it but this seems like another bond game....crap, well except one ;)

The cover system looks cool, but does feel little sluggish, multiple times just in this stupid demo I was smacking my keyboard trying to get off my cover. Looks OK nothing to write home about. I can see me getting very mad at this game for some reason.

OMG what an absolutely terrible game... well at least the demo. First of all, where the fuck is the blood? Secondly, the controls are extremely shitty. The FOV is all fucked for widescreen makes me get tunnel vision. Also, the enemies are stupid and the cover makes the game insanely boring... I mean come on I can eat a roast beef sandwich and press the right mouse button and fire and release, take a bite, repeat button presses, spill mayo on shirt, wipe off, take a bite, etc. etc.

G - A - Y

Also, if you notice as you get to that watery ancient ruins part you will see they have a generator that looks eerly like the one I made for caves...

I also tried QoS today.
Well, it was one of the shortest demos i ever played.
And i don't think that's to bad, course i wouldn't have stand this any longer then that.
The bad impression started even before the Game begun, i was going to install it on partition D: (!) but the game kept telling me there is not enough space on C: (?!?).
It said something about 33MB left, i checked it, 1,5GB free on C: and even much more on D: where it was supposed to install.
So i made some diskspace on C: then ran the installer again, it worked and the Game installed to D:.
So finally it was installed and i tried it...
Started the game, the Activision and Treyarch logos spreaded a little Bond mood (mainly because of the sound), but the next thing that showed up was totally out of place, a cartoon character in a futuristic white suite.
I thought i saw the worst thing of the intro, i was wrong.  The Coca Cola Advertising Screen destroyed the last leftover from my bond mood.
Facing a picture of Craig in the menu screen couldn't make anything better.
Well, I adjusted some settings like screen resolution and looked at the Key bindings then started the Game.
At this point i thought, i can't get any worser... you know, i was wrong again.
After a short sequence i saw Craig covering behind a Pillar, i tried to get away from it, it didn't work. A few seconds later (felt like a minute) i somehow managed to get away, I'm not sure how.
It switched to 1st Person and i began to move. After a few adjustments to the sensity of the Mouse i realized it's not the mouse sensity, it's the game itself which feels strange.
Anyway, i followed the foe through the channels and saw the rest of the demo, got nearly motionsickness from the earthquakes, killed a few Enemies and finally...
FINALY IT WAS OVER.

I never felt so lucky to see the end of a demo.

In fact i played most of the bond games since Goldeneye, this is the worst so far.

I also thought that it was very boring and bland.  The guns and the whole feel of the game felt like a COD4/GOW gamestyle..  Nothing new or extraordinary.  I was very disappointed..  Hopefully the other missions and maps will make up for the demo, but I don't see myself buying this one.

Simply put, GE:S > QoS.
:D

The demo was really short, gameplay mechanics were OK, but WHY OH WHY WAS IT LOCKED AT 30FPS!

"Was that over the top?  I can never tell!" :D

Played through it and played some online, seemed like they were going in the right direction but never quite made it.

Definitely disappointed considering the funnest bond game since Goldeneye comments, I've heard.

anyway Quantum of Bonds
