[vTUT] Getting a model/prop into the Source engine. 3ds Max 9
« on: September 14, 2008, 08:31:33 pm »

Ok this is a 4 part video tutorial and in it i will teach you how to do the following:

Making a simple box.
Basics of UVW Unwrapping.
Making a simple texture in Photoshop.
Exporting all the required files to create your prop.
Setting up your .QC file.
Converting your textures into Source compatible textures.
Setting up all the folders you'll need to compile everything correctly.
How to set up the GUI program that compiles your .QC file

I'll then show you that it does actually work by opening it up in model viewer and then i'll put it into Hammer to further prove it.  Then, of course, i will actually show you the prop in the game itself.

I also provide the tools that you'll need to accomplish all of this, minus 3DS Max 9 and Photoshop of course.

This tutorial is aimed at compiling props for Half Life 2 Death-Match, but the same principle works for Orange Box and Counter Strike Source, etc.  Once you've succesfully imported your first prop you'll realize how easy it really is!  :D
