And for future reference:

Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services>

Then disable Terminal services and Terminal services Configuration.

This will essentially make remote desktop unusable by yourself or anyone else, and really patches up a big gaping security hole in Windows XP/Vista. I've never really met anyone who uses Windows's built-in remote desktop software for everyday use, so it should be ok to disable.

i was told by a friend who also got nailed that the threat is found by Norton Antivirus, it's called SecurityRisk.URLRedir

I use it every day. It is wikid once setup right but it logs the current user out so he prob has some custom software doing it for him.

I actually do use it, but it's limited to the localhost IP, which I use through SSH for enhanced security/privacy.


I use it every day. It is wikid once setup right but it logs the current user out so he prob has some custom software doing it for him.
There is a Terminal Server patch that allows more than one active session on the workstation (like one Terminal Server user, and one physical user on the same system), but I won't post this here. PM me if you want details.
