always one of my faviroute levels.i hope this gets pulled of nicely.dont forget that boat,make it drivable.that would be cool.

somebody already made a frigate map, it wasn't that great, and it isn't for the current build. I encourage you to make one, but please do some history.

Frigate would be insane. Imagine, if it was in LTK, bodies would be flying everywhere, and they would fly over the railings and into the water, and there would be a dozen or so bodies floating around in the water... lol

I think the level would be a lot of fun as a multiplayer map. You've got open spaces on the decks and in the basement, you've got narrow corridors in the center, and there are multiple paths you can take to move around. It is a little small and simple, but I think it could potentially be a lot of fun (especially if you could dive off the railings, into the water, and then climb back on board).

The Frigate level Luchador made, isn't that bad, I think its a little too small, maybe make its like a large class ship, but keep overall design though.

The ge_lafayette map you're talking about plays very well, exept of some seriouse framerate issues in the bug and heck area becourse it's not really optimized (still WIP).
But it wouldn't hurt to have a dock or something to make it a little bigger.

interesting...out of all the times i have played..I don't think I have ever come across Luchador's frigate map. I tried joining a server with frigate but i got some sort of error...maybe someone can host it again and we can all join. :)

I think you got the "missing map", maybe the host forgot to make it downloadable, or you disabled download content. if you are going to retry the download, you can download it from one of the WN server, coz i know they have working download.
There's also a Link to Luchadors mappack but it seems the files were removed.

I loved Frigate as a single player map on N64 but I don't think it would be great as a multiplayer map on any system or PC. I think Frigate should just stay away from the multiplayer aspects since we have great maps like facilitiy and complex to rove around on.

Quite frankly, I already enjoy the current frigate (aka lafayette) level which is classic in its layout. With a couple adjustments, it could become a very good close combat MP map.

Well that is reassuring that this good single player map can be a fun multiplayer map too. Amazing what creative people can do.

I think Frigate is just fine in multiplayer. Though it would be better if it was opened up more. Perhaps remove most of the doors and make it a little bigger.

Oh it plays quite well in multiplayer, except of some slowdowns which are an result of the WIP status of the map.

There was a third-party Frigate map in BETA 1.1, made by Luchador I guess. It is a pretty good map and really captures the feeling of the original.

im sorry i just jizzed my self.  Frigate would rock it has plenty of places to transition in midship and exit points as well.  i would add maybe some areas like you guys have done with runway and cradle.  this would be a great idea!

Well i think it´s a good map. There are many room´s and coridors, and you don´t know when you open a door, if there is a enemy waiting for you or not. And it is sure funny that the bodies are flying around and finally in the water. lol.

But anytime we will have a ge_frigate , if it is a multiplayer level or not. At least when GE:S make a Singelplayer Mod, this map will be WIP.

Oh gawd, that is an OLD third party map made back in the beta 1 days. I think Luchador did it, and it was fun to play, but I'm still looking forward to the new one.

Except of a few fps drops course of optimizing issues and a few missing things, it was very good and fun to play on.

Frigate could be awesome, if the playable part of the map would not be restricted to the ship only, like it does is in the movie (it's mounted).

So on the ship, in the 'halways' it would feature the gameplay of train. On both roofs of both sides (if you make it) you get the gameplay of the Unreal Tournament map of that flying rock with two sniper towers. Then you have the water part, for you own interpretation pleasures, and the dock.

If this is done right, ge_frigate could become an intense and uber MP map, but if this is not done to complete perfection it could instantly suck because of the huge lack of space to move in, so it must be de-cluttered and at the same time be true to the feel of ge64_frigate!

I don't think a dock is necessary as part of the playing area, Frigate is a decent size when you think about it. There's plenty of rooms and corridors throughout the ship and large areas on the decks.

The layout is also quite cyclic, there's no dead-ends and every area has more than one exit. As it stands it's about the size of Facility in terms of playing area, except it's more compact and stacked up.

Being former Navy, I've actually seen one of these ships, La Fayette Class Frigate, up close and personal, honestly if you get dimensions right and all, you could easily put 16 people running and gunning and have as much closure as Facility as someone already said.  IF there is going to be a Frigate map, keep the original map in mind, but I would base it moreso on the real thing.

Let me contact a buddy of mine, studying the spec's of the La Fayette Class and the U.S. Arleigh Burke class are VERY similar in design, minus the smooth cut architecture of the outside.  Let me see if I can't contact an old friend of mine for some inside pics of some of my old sister ships.

The details are what im after..  doors, pipes random stuff :D  But something to give me sense of scale would be epic.

Well here's one HUGE tip, find a truck in your area with that Rhino truck liner, and take a close up picture of it, there's your texture for the the deck of the ship.  ALL ships some standard with that reguardless of country.  It's a non-slip surface that works amazing but uh..heh, hurts like hell if you fall on it.  Funny story, had a security alert drill and had some cocky junior officer that was told to stand fast and uh..got plowed face first into the deck, his face looked like a bad motorcycle accident afterwards.

Random walls, hallways, deck, engine room... bridge (i don't see that one happening),  anchor, railings, venting, lights, galley, lou, beds, floor...   signage/warnings

basically the more pictures the more authentic it will be.
