Just came across some custom maps for Rise of The Triad which turn out to be both Dam and Facility from Goldeneye
they look reallly good- i wonder if its possible to port Dam to GES?

Seeing that Dam level makes me think Goldeneye Source should be moved to the Rise of Triad engine... Looks awesome.

^^Seriously?
Don't wanna judge it to hard because it's still WIP, but i cannot see anything there that couldn't be done in Source too.
It's basic, it's unfinished and clearly not refined for multiplayer.

Facility, no. But I don't believe you could create that Dam level to the same kind of detail but then being as it's a more modern engine I would think that's a given. However I may be wrong on that, I'm no expert for sure, but something about that engine just makes Source look dated to me.

Just did some research, Rise of Triad 2013 was created on Unreal Engine 3...

And OH GOD YES! I would love to see Goldeneye Source on this engine... But yeah, I know that would take years and years of working from scratch, but I can dream :)

A lot of people dislike Unreal Engine 3 because of how bad it can perform on some computers. Even ROTT is hard to run at max settings and it doesn't look that good.
A finished and polished Dam in Source would look much better than that except for the dynamic shadows and maybe the reflections in the textures.
I know that map is WIP, but like Kraid said, its layout is not good for multiplayer, the scale is a bit big, and it looks low poly like the N64, for example the barriers and tower, there's no point to trying to remake a map and keep those, it's UE3, so it'd be much better to do those with models instead of creating them with brushes.
Unreal Engine 4 on the other hand seems to have great performance and looks even better, but I have no idea how it would be to create mods on it.

Source is dated, it's over 10 years old now. That being said, it still looks pretty incredible if you look at the level of detail that's been put into the existing GE:S maps (one that comes to mind is Luchador's Archives).

Indeed. It is amazing what the mod team have achieved especially when you look at Casino, that can put a lot of modern maps to shame. I'm sure they will continue to surprise us all with this old dog :)
