Title: HELP!
Post by: IamRickAstley on August 01, 2007, 08:20:07 am
When I start GE: Source, I get to the menu fine.  I click on the server I want to join, and it freezes half way through the "retrieving server info"...I have used the desktop shortcut too so that isn't it.  Anyone know how to fix this?  It happens 9 out of 10 times I would say.

Still can't get into a server, any suggestions?

Umm, since nobody has posted I'll try to help you.

Anyway, have you tried reinstalling Goldeneye Source?
Have you tried reinstalling the SDK Base?
Do you get this problem with any other games/mods?
Have you changed SteamAppId (in gameinfo.txt) to something different then 215?

I have tried reinstalling GE...haven't tried SDK base though.  Thanks I will try that.  It doesn't happen on Counter Strike so I don't know what is happening...also, what do you mean when you say changing SteamAppId to something other than 215?

I was asking if you have changed SteamAppId in gameinfo.txt. Just forget I even asked.

I reinstalled the SDK...it did not work.  How do I uninstall goldeneye source so I can try to install it over again?

Ok, go to X:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods (X is your drive where Steam is installed). After that, delete the folder called gesource.

EDIT: You can re-download Goldeneye Source here (http://dev.goldeneyesource.com/wiki/index.php/Beta1_Mirrors) if you deleted the installing exe

At first i got the same Problem even HL2:Deathmatch was frozen when i tried to get Server-Info.
Be sure you've allowed the Program hl2.exe to access the Internet (Firewall).
Changing the Firewall settings to something like Gamemode (if this is available in your FW), might be also helpfull.
First installing the SDK-Base, then HL2:DM and then GE:S could be a smart idea.

Yeah, kraid.  It does sound like a firewall thing.  Also, if your pinging off multiple proxies, that could do it to you as well.
