My friend and I were setting remote mines around the Bunker and we noticed that after placing 10 mines they start to disappear (ie on the 11th mine thrown the 1st mine disappears).
Is this intentional? I don't know if this applies to Timed Mines and Proximity Mines aswell.
I don't remember this limitation in the 64 version.
-
I can assure you this also occurred on the N64 Goldeneye, but i'm not sure at what number they would disappear on the N64. Anyway, it's not a bug but a necessary part of the programming, limitations need to be set to maintain performance, too many rolling explosions at once would create a massive impact on the performance of the game.
-
If it wasn't for this limitation, people would just spam the mines to the point where no one could move an inch before everything gets set off. Also with too many explosions, people with average computers would get a huge lag spike causing a crash. So this is no bug at all! :)

The real issue here is that it's no longer possible to stack them.

HA HA! Goodtimes.

Hehe oh boy, I remember if you stacked too much, At some point, You couldn't shoot anymore.
-
AFAIK the viewmodels will disapear but the mines still explode i think.
-
After 10 mines was removed to stop the spam. Imagine each player having 30 proxy mines setup around the map. No mine stacking is a issue ;)
-
I understand the reasoning. Any chance on getting this as a variable that can be set in the console? Simply have the default be 10?
-
This is not going to change. It's not just 10 mines, its 10 thrown objects (includes throwing knifes, other mines types, etc.) Keeps server performance in check.
A variable.... maybe... but i'd be a cheat.

Oh comeone, we love cheats. Id cheat and kick your ass :)

Spamming with mines is still an ongoing issue, even with that limit set.
I don't remember how many you pick up from a single ammo crate... 4.. 5?
Heh, 1 single mine a crate would suffice well enough for me! :)
That way, a weaponset would tell that there will be mines around.
Rather than saying: This round, players are running around and spam-throwing remotes, used as probably the deadliest weapon in the game... screw the guns. :D
The mine quantity in the crates and also of what you are carrying, is the real problem instead, if you ask me.
I actually think this goes for explosives in general. What could be more special to obtain, becomes instead too frequently used to the point where it's no less used than a handgun or rifle. :-\

Nothing compared to Beta 3.1
