I can no longer use Steam, and no amount of uninstalling and re-installing fixes the issue. Every time I try to start Steam It attempts to update, it gets to 99 percent then produces the following error:-
could not open bin/filesystem_steam.dll
The first time I tried to load Steam this morning I got a "VGUI" error of some kind, and then this. I've searched around, but it seems there's no solution, I have been at it for an hour now. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm now getting the "Fatal Error:VGUI_Setup failed" problem. From what I have seen online, there is no solution. Steam generally ignore peoples cry's for help on this and people have been known to be without Steam for months. No Goldeneye Source for me then unless one of you has the solution.

This might sound really stupid but... Try creating a new session and installing it there.
If it doesn't work, I guess you could try to use VirtualPC.
Maybe someone else will come up with better solutions.

OK, I found a solution that worked for me, I thought I'd post it for future reference in case anybody else has this issue later.
Head to this site and download "DCIman32.dll", don't worry, I have been using this site for years and have never had any reason not to trust it:-
http://www.dll-files.com/
Click on "Download Zip" to download the zipped "DCIman32.dll".
Copy it into your "Steam" folder, and into your "Steam/bin" folder. Now run Steam and it should update OK.

The link has rotted!
Be very careful about putting files in your steam/bin. Personally I wouldn't.

Seems they don't allow direct linking to the download, I've modified the post. Like I said, I have always used this site and I have never had any problem, it's well maintained and professional about what it does.
