Actually I think that might be one of the problems with the mix - there are a lot of lower frequencies and not a lot of mid or upper frequencies. This also has to do with how it was scored as well as the samples used.

For every one of those tracks i can say he copied the midi files and imported them to his sequencer and chose the instruments, they sound atrocious.
