What if black mesa source  is half life 3 and the devs are from valve just tricking us into thinking this is some other game, while secretly developing the third installment.

You deflated some misguided hope I had with that thread title.
Valve likes to play with its audience and their expectations, but this would piss off too many people at one time and I doubt they're looking to do that with their flagship series.

The potential epicness of Portal 2 releasing as Episode 3 didn't transpire so I wouldn't expect anything less.

The thought had crossed my mind some time ago about Valve 'helping' the Black Mesa project along.

But overall I find that unlikely because Valve is busy working on Half Life 3.
