Some jammy git kept using the air duct today to avoid a head shot, lol. Never really noticed before that the heads go through the scenery.

Yeah it's unfortunate with the default hl2 crouching animations the player's head is above our crouch height limit. This will eventually get fixed one way or another, I don't know how convincingly we could squash the players downward for crouch-moving animations, we may have to raise the height limit for crouched players which would break a few maps.

Could they not be crouched on all fours with the weapon hand raised? Or would it have to mean altering HL2 code? Maybe Python code could play a part in this.

Nah nothing to do with python, it's just the animations. The hitbox/reference model/animations don't line up wiht the neat little cube you're inside for collisions. I've thought about this before (back when I redid all the standing, aiming, running etc animations, and the only thing I could think of that made sense was either crouching down even lower (could possibly look REALLY weird) or sorta crouch walking really low holding their weapon out in front of them and using their other hand to balance themselves against the floor.

Of course, Redoing the crouched animations for all characters would take a very, Very long time.
I reckon we will have to get used to it. Its not frequent that you see a guy camping the vents to avoid headshots, Though.

Yah.... the vents need to get taller at some point.

Ever crouched through a real vent?
I doubt that you can do it ducked, it would be more like crawling through.
Ofc. it all depends on the size of the vent, but a vent which is big enough to allow the player to go through ducked would look out of place in most locations.
