Title: Why isn't ge_citadel_luch an official map?
Post by: Storm101 on December 31, 2010, 05:28:48 am
Luchador is part of the team now and it's a great map, so it puzzles me. I'd love to see it being played more and being official should help that.

This map...it refuses to die!

Does that mean you don't like it anymore? >_>

It's fine, it's just funny how I made the original version in a day yet it keeps popping up almost four years later :P (the current version is upgraded somewhat)

I'm glad you like the map! I think it's better staying as a custom map though. Some of us devs were messing with it a few months ago so maybe you haven't seen the end of it  :P

Citadel was not an official map in Goldeneye 64.  It was found years later by using a gameshark.  Therefore, it should remain custom.

"We finnished this track in one day. It was b-side (vinyl) material."

Yes, whereas Casino was actually a mission in the original game.

The way I see it, Citadel could easily be an official map, but just not in it's current state.

Citadel could go official, but we need to make it what it was.

Citadel was designed to be a test for multiplayer, so it should become something like an MI6 training facility.  With a little imagination it could probably become something really neat-o.

Casino wasn't in the original but I think it's great to have a map based off of the Casino Royale.  I think Luchador did a great job with it.

It was actually supposed to be a single player mission, Replacing Silo if my memory is correct.

It was supposed to involve stealth and possibly using the unused beta "security camera" and "money" items to track Xenia. It never got out of concepts for all we know, and it would've been in the Monte Carlo casino seen in the movie.

AFAIK, it was just a engine test level nothing more nothing less.
It would have been a strange architecture for a casino anyway.
A MI6 training facility would be the most plausible usage for this map IMO.

You know, that is really a cool idea. It almost reminds me of the early PS1 Tomb Raider games.

Lara had a "training facility" in her mansion that had a jungle gym, pool, blocks, cliffs, ledges and the sort.
