Now if only any of you knew what that was.

al qaeda?

Ugh. The download links suck.
Fileplanet is full of fail and SteamFriends is slow as hell.
-
I've got it installed, not touching it until I get back from Transformers tonight.

its an amazing mod for having so much custom content and truely being a total conversion...i just don't like the gameplay. and wow, watch out for all the TKing and mic spamming douchebags, and those who think they are R Lee Ermey.

I agree, it's a nice mod, but the gameplay just doesn't do it for me either. It seems like it tries too hard to be a milsim, but without maintaining basic attributes of good fps gameplay. It certainly is a different game. I couldn't even tell it was a source engine mod, it seemed like an entirely different game. Little to no recycled props from HL2.

My brother played it last night and came out with the conclusion that they are trying to be too realistic; no indication when you kill someone, no teammate indicators, etc. etc. He said that it felt like America's Army.

It can't be too realistic, being realistic was the focal point of the mod!

It gave me teammate indicators when I played last night, it's not a big red sign, but it's there.
I only played for 10 minutes last night, I tried it on my better rig today and it just gives me connection problems at a black screen after loading finishes. I don't need to deal with that, I get that enough with BF2.

If you can't handle Ins, be sure not to go to war. You don't get to respawn every 30 seconds.
The key thing is, they did a bang-up job on gun-sway. Learn from them.
I'm pretty sure bullets come from the weapon model, not from the eyes. For better and for worse, I was sniping over sandbags, and though I was spot on a guy at distance, after firing twice and not fragging I noticed there were two bullethole decals on the sandbag model. Obviously that should be fixed up when sighted, iron or scope. Anyway, it proves that we can do gun sway correctly.

Oh trust me, too realistic can, and will, make the gameplay less enjoyable. Games still have to be treated as games.
-
Well, if it was realistic, then you would at least have general indicators of how much ammo you have or how much health you have. For example, in real life, you would tell how many rounds you would have left by the weight of the magazine. And you should be able to tell whether you are from within an inch of your life or have just spawned. Too many times in game I have peeled better weaponry from defeated foes, only to find in battle that the clip has nearly been depleted.
Anyway, other than these minor annoyances, Insurgency is an excellent mod, and I love the realism in gameplay and the effort that they have put forth making a mod with excellent gameplay, graphics, and sound.
Oh, and the team killers at launch was an organized effort by myg0t and 4chan, according to someone in the insurgency forums.

the voice acting is terrible. like really horribly bad.

And keep in mind that this is just a beta, they'll have bug fixes and content updates later on.

You can say the same with GE:S, but I will never believe it until it's available as a download.

For Insurgency this is one absolutely stellar beta, and the hype for this wont be dying out for a long time now. Its definitely worth a download. Now...for them to implement some server cvars to turn on/off indicators for health, ammo, kill indicators, some better TK punishment would be nice, and that sort of thing, then i'll be finding myself going back to this mod more and more. I never really cared much for the realistic-fps, but if they made it a little more arcade-style I probably would play it to death. Shame though the one major bug in this beta involves crashing, other than that its near perfect for a first release.

At least they don't spurt "FUK!" when they are shot.
