Title: Listen server?
Post by: trainboy1094 on June 20, 2010, 03:44:45 am
I am trying to play a private game with a few of my friends. I was looking into game servers and saw that there is such thing as a listen server. There are only three of us, so I think this would work. How do I create one of these for a GoldenEye: Source match? Is it possible? I get that I would be the one hosting the match AND playing it, and that the server disappointed when I quit. Anything else i need to know?

Thanks,
Mike

Code: [Select]
sv_lan 0
Code: [Select]
changelevel ge_cradle

And as long as your router is setup correctly, people should be able to see it and join(try the changelevel command a couple times if people don't see it on first try).

Not going to go into setting up a router, but if people cant join, this (http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Half_Life_2_Steam_Server/Half_Life_2_Steam_Serverindex.htm) might help you a little:

Also please make sure the host system also has the Server Hotfix.

I can't seem to get this to work. When you say "While in the server" do you mean when setting up the game/server or while in the game itself, playing on whatever map has been loaded? Also, when I try inviting a friend to a game, it says "The server is not responding" on their end. Why?
