Title: Portal for free on Steam (until May 24th)
Post by: coolDisguise on May 13, 2010, 02:01:52 am
Title says it all.

resp.

For those who haven't got it yet, now's your chance to get it for free - and it might also be a chance for people who haven't got a source game yet and might want to play GE: S, so go and tell your friends.

Yep, I've been alerting all my friends to it.

By the way I'm very sure that it does not include Source SDK. Valve ain't that stupid.  :P

I don't know if it gives you the SDK, the other valve deals didn't, but I was able to get 2 friends to get it, so more fun for them.

I knew the other deals didn't give you the SDK but this time it's only until May 24th, while the other deals aren't limited as far as I know.
That's why I hope it would be too much trouble for them to distinguish which versions of Portal were bought and which were given away for free, so they wouldn't make a difference between these two after all.

But maybe one of you has friends that didn't have a Steam account up to that point, so we could have our definite answer. ;-)

EDIT:
Just read http://forums.goldeneyesource.net/index.php/topic,5082.msg54738.html - so I guess you were right. Anyway portal is a nice game, so it doesn't really matter

enzo just cause it doesnt have two physical buttons it doesnt mean it has only one click. You press on the left it left clicks and if you press on the right it right clicks. Again time to update your mac hating facts.

Fact: My $2000 PC outperforms the $4000 Mac Pro in the office (I work for a film company) by 30% using Geekbench.  The benchmark was conducted in OSX on both computers (yeah, my PC is dual booting Win7 and OSX).

But hey, Macs never get viruses! Oh wait...

Don't mean to start a mac vs pc fight or anything, I just think we can all agree that a mac costs an arm and two legs for the power you get.

if you look at power vrs cost then bass your right how ever getting a mac is not all about performance. The os comes into it as i prefer it to windows for day to day things. Having linux/mac os x and windows on one computer is really handy for my job as a software engy and also the hardware features of my macbook pro shits all over any windows laptop i have seen in terms of weight, battry, touchpad (dont event use a mouse no more), mag safe power connector and backlit keyboard. Im quite happy to pay more for those things as it makes my life using the laptop more enjoyable.

That's all that matters, that it makes you happy :)
To each their own.

I value the little screws on the bottom of my "clunky laptop" that I used last year to do a complete mobo replacement at a cost of $200. This, vs the Apple "care" that you have to fork out tons of money for. Oh, I also replaced my standard battery with extended life within a matter of seconds and can swap back my charged standard one for really extended life.

Blah...
