Can you guys recompile the beta 3 archives with another name besides ge_archives ?
Renaming it causes the HDR to act weird, which is easily fixed by disabling HDR.
Not renaming it would mean everyone who wants to join has to rename/replace the current ge_archives before joining in.
A recompile with a different name would solve both issues.
Thanks in advance

I second this request. There's a number of us who would like to have both versions to use on our server. =]

The only reason the archives layout had to change was because of the huge amount of vis problems. Hammer doesn't like lots of open areas. Beta 3 archives plays fun, but runs really slow.
-
Weird how? Have you tried running buildcubemaps?
-
I didn't start this thread to discuss whether b3 or b4 archives is better than the other. I only asked for a recompile.
Can you do that?
-
He would have to do more than recompile, he would need to change the weapon spawns and add token spawns for beta 4. That's also if he still has the old geometry and if he wants to.
As much as I like the old Archives layout, it doesn't necessarily make it a good thing to have two essentially current versions of a map floating around.

Thanks for the input Mangley, but I gave the map a test before coming here, and so far found no issues (except when it's renamed and HDR is on). I suggest you do the same.
If the author of the map doesn't want to have the recompiled version floating around then I understand.
But once again: Can I have a simple yes or no on the recompile?

Wow, thanks! This solved the first issue.

So you're all set then right?
BTW, you probably want to build the cubemaps for both HDR and normal.
-
I have an old version of the map lying around somewhere, but I don't want to add all the new weapon spawns and all that. I don't mind if you guys decompile the old version and recompile it yourselves. I like both versions.

Well, then I must thank you for that. That's what we were going to do ;).

Get with jcferrgy to make a 3rd party wiki page for it. And make sure its clear this is a 3rd party recompile of an old official map.
And when you post the link to download or w/e, link the wiki page in that thread/post.
