Title: PROBLEM: creation of a server
Post by: Matteobin on December 21, 2009, 10:42:43 am
Hi there, I usually play GoldenEye source with my friends, but when I try to create a server they do NOT see it from the server list, and me too.

I modified the filters, but nothing happens. Of course we have got the same version of GE source.

What could it be?

How should I do?

Please, help me!

and by create a server, im sure you mean the ingame create a server.

to get that to work:

-Start the server
-open up console
- type  "sv_lan 0" (minus the "")
- then type "changelevel ge_facility"  (or what ever map you want)
-if they still cant see it, redo last step again.

then they should see it.

If they still can't see it, then most likely you don't have the ports open to start a public server.

And how should I do to open my ports to create a public server?

Thanks everyone!

Go HERE (http://www.portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Half_Life_2_Steam_Server/Half_Life_2_Steam_Serverindex.htm) and find your router.

If you don't use a router, then your ports are open.

If you don't use a router, then your ports are open.

If he is using Vista or Win 7 then his ports won't be open unless he presses "allow" in the firewall popup box that comes up when he first started the game.

I don't use Windows Vista or Windows 7, I use Windows XP, but I use a router too.

I selected "Allow" when the pop up appared, but nothing happens.

P.S.
I use a "Netgear DG834G" router.
