Title: H1n1 flu Shot
Post by: Kratos on December 11, 2009, 10:10:40 pm
Has anyone from the Goldeneye Community get a flu shot yet? In our college, they are offering free flu shots, and I went quickly and got it in less than 5 mins.

This freaking shot is now hurting my left fucking arm.

Why is it that, every shot hurts after a couple of hours and it doesn't hurt immediately after they give you the shot????  infact, It feels good when you are given a shot lol.

I just hope in the future, they dont give shots on your private areas  YIKES!!!!

Answering with a question..   do any of us go outside?

Also shots were common to receive in the buttocks 15+ years ago.

The only shot I remember well was about 10 years ago. I believe it was penicillin, administered to my right (perhaps left) buttock, for strep throat (I use to get strep throat with alarming frequency when I was a child). The next day I couldn't walk.

Besides that, I can't remember the last time I had a shot.

When it's this cold, the only sentence I can complete in my own head is "Fuck it's cold!" Or "It's cold as fuck!"
~Paraphrased, Lewis Black

Plenty of opportunities to get the shot, so I should get off my ass...

~Edit for closing " mark.

My mother and father both got it because they work in a psychiatric institution. In my country everyone with a public function or younger than 3 and older than 60 gets a shot.

But i'd say this entire thing is soooo overrated, i don't know anyone who has it yet. And besides, if you're strong enough, you don't need a shot.

Factually these H1n1 shots are going to be a hype, just like the bird flu shots a couple of years ago, and you know who made billions of profit? The medical industry. Did it spread to pandemic proportions? No it didn't.

I meant balloons.

I don't see a reason to take the shot but I also don't see one not to take it. At least in my country there have been no cases of problems derived from the vaccine.

My guess, they just wanna test their drug amplifier, so they make this flu more dramatic then necessary.
So far i don't heared of a single case of pig flu in my circle of acquaintance.

Beside that, i doubt this flu is even existing.
All the symptoms are much similar to the regular flu, so it would be easy to manipulate a few tests and say they got H1N1.

Now the media is reporting about this over and over again, a few payed "experts" say how terrible this flu could be and you got a nice little mass histeria.

So far much more ppl are dying course of the regular flu, but this is something the ppl know and so they're not affraid of it.

Also if you're planning to get a shot now, you're allready very late. Once injected your body needs time to build up protection. Somewhat arround 2-3 weeks. The main infection time is over by then, so it's not only pointless it might also increase the chances for you to get infected since your body will be weakened after the injection.

If you want, I could ask my mom some of your questions.  She's an Infection Control Risk and Prevention Coordinator, and she wrote a lot of the containment policy / information regarding this flu for the state that I live in.

Just a fun side note - she told me this flu has been way over-hyped.  Although there has been a lot of confusion about it, the flu should not be taken lightly either...and it is different from seasonal influenza.

Also - H1N1 is not a "special" name just for this flu.  Seasonal influenza is given a name like that every year to catalog the particular strain so they can make vaccines.  It's just a way they catalog them.

Another piece of information - people between the ages of teen - adult (I don't remember specific numbers, but like 13 - 39 let's say,) are the people most at risk.  This is because of their fully functioning immune system.

Final Bit - If you get the chance for the vaccine, DON'T take the nasal spray - injection only.

Too late for me.  I had to get one since I deal with sick people on a weekly basis.  I guess you're saying that because the nasal form is a live vaccine (albeit weakened) while injection has dead influenza virus.  Even if I did ask for a needle instead at the time, I don't think I would have gotten it since those are reserved for the extremely young and elderly, and supplies are limited.  In any case, I've only suffered with a droopy nose and mild headache that lasted about 2-3 days.  :-\

My school said for students with chronic illness requires injection and for non chronic illness the mist will be given. AHA here is the thing

"Healthy students with no underlying chronic illnesses will receive the nasal Flu Mist vaccine.  High risk students (those with asthma, diabetes, kidney or heart disease, etc.) will be prioritized for the injectable vaccine (limited supplies are available).  All students must wait 15 minutes after vaccine is administered."

The 15mins after vaccine was for any side effects or shit. I luckily didnt explode after the vaccine. lol

Hours later it hurt like a bitch, especially bed time. Maybe I was being a pussy.
