Title: straferun
Post by: boobshlt on November 18, 2009, 11:51:57 am
Is there anychance you could implement straferun like there was in the original goldeneye? I'd suggest it be a toggling option like jump.

Also, there's a bug that lets you mute gunfire via flashlight.

There is wall run boost like the original, strafe run would be very hard to do considering that involves modifying Valve's convoluted movement code. Also, it doesn't translate as easily to keyboard from the joystick. I already hacked that up enough to kill bunny hopping and other fixes...

Sorry.

Straferun doesn't translate bad at all imo. Some games (Doom 2 hah) have that bug.

Well since there's jump, what about a walk/sneak movement (so you don't make any noise walking) ? I think it would be good for 1v1.
I'd really like an option to disable auto weapon switch aswell, it can get annoying sometimes

Also, a couple new game modes would be nice. particularly clan arena.

And if you want a crazy sky in the pie idea, how about the face mapping feature that was planned for perfect dark?

Oh and after you mentioned it i'm really digging the wallrun

Turn of the radar and you can't hear footsteps or anything. Therefore, the element of surprise is accomplished that way.

There is already an option in the "options" to disable this. Look deep. :)

New game modes are being added for beta 4.

What do you mean by a crazy pie in the sky idea?

No way, I distinctly remember hearing footsteps on complex with radar off.  Regardless, its worked pretty well in adding surprise and stealth in all the 1v1 matches I've been in thus far, 15 to be exact.

When GE:S gets to the point where only new goodies-type content can be added, user models have been discussed.
But that's such an insane ways off that it's best not to think about it right now.
