Title: Internet Bandwidth Caps
Post by: major on August 21, 2009, 10:55:24 pm
Anyone here like me and have a internet bandwidth cap?

If so how much is it?

and the fee if you go over?

Mine is a 100GB cap, and a $1.50 fee every extra GB.

I have cox communications as an ISP. They have 3 different packages. I chose the fastest speeds called the Premier Package.

They built this new service called Powerboost which is like when extra bandwidth is available, it kicks in, and we get faster speeds.

Maximum download speed- 15 or 20 megabits per second

Maximum download speed with PowerBoost- 20 or 25 megabits per second

Maximum upload speed- 1.5 - 3 megabits per second

Maximum upload speed with PowerBoost- 3.5 megabits per second

Maximum monthly bandwidth consumption cap- 60 gigabytes download; 15 gigabytes upload

Personal WebSpace account size- 10 megabytes of disk space per User ID

Personal WebSpace traffic- 3 gigabytes a day per User ID for visitors viewing your pages

So 60gb download every month is our bandwidth cap and 15 upload /month

I have ddwrt in my router (http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv3/dd-wrt/about.html) and it tells you how much bandwidth you have consumed.

For this month of August I consumed:

Download- 90692MB

Uploaded- 24383MB

I went over cox limits, and iv done it many times and nope I dont believe they charge going over. I have not received any crap letters. They are a huge company and don't give a shit lol. Your lucky to have 100GB limit. I would download so much pron.

Srsly you guys need to drop the DL limits... they truely are grim.

I have 20 Mb/d and 1.5Mb/u (couldnt be arsed to pay for higher upload lol) and that is cheap as hell. No caps.
