Title: My hl2.exe is crashing...
Post by: SPECTRE v7 on August 06, 2009, 05:04:36 am
I recently installed Windows 7 a couple days ago, and just started playing GES on it today, and it crashed twice, with the Message hl2.exe crashed, the executable doesn't crash when i play TF2, so i don't understand why it is crashing with GES...Anyone experience the same problem? Oh yeah mine is 64-bit

64bit? could try putting:

Code: [Select]
-32bit

in your launch options, I have to do this for generic HL2. But don't for GE:S so most likely wont work.

if you goto C:\program files\steam\steamapps\[login name]\source sdk base 2007 you should see alot of files with extension .dmp. zip up and send us the newest ones (admin@lodle.net) and we can look into why its crashing.

I  don't have the dump files, i don't know why, i get the crash message, but i don't get the dump files...I'll see if it crashes again and then maybe i'll get the dumps from it, but i don't know why the dumps haven't shown up...

If you don't get dump files then it is most likely not our fault. If the crash originates in steam binaries they usually don't throw out a dump file or the dump is located in your steam.exe directory.

Just delete the SDK Base 2007 files and redownload/verify the integrity of the game cache. My files have a tendency to screw themselves up and doing the above always fixes the problem.
