Title: Player Speed
Post by: EduCatOR on July 11, 2009, 08:03:29 pm
Hi guys, I was just wondering what the player speed was back in, say 1.1h and what the server cvar is to change it permanently on my server. Little too slow for me...  ;)

Thanks and take care!

You can't change the player speed, it is hard coded. It is getting a little slower in Beta 4 to match true GE64 specs and to lighten the run and gun pace a little we have experienced in many servers.

Read that as: encourage careful shots and proper gameplay.

I hear ya, just seems like movement skills no longer apply much anymore. You can't really use a whole lot to dodge bullets.

I take it there's no chance of letting servers have control over that?

Dodge bullets? Is this the Matrix GE:S?

No matter how fast you move you can't dodge bullets of skilled players, they will adjust their site placement rate to match your twitch "a" and d" finger pressing.

Server's won't have control of player speed, sry.

Heh well, I don't know about you man, but when I fire up a first person shooter I expect to dodge some bullets. I thought that was pretty much how everyone thought.

And of course any skilled player should be able to hit me, but what you meant to say is that now any player will be able to hit me while I strafe. I don't bunny hop or any of that so I'm not sure if that's really what you referring to or not. I totally respect the fact that you're working hard to make this mod as close to the game we all love, but I also think there are some things that should be left in the past. If we all used n64 controllers I think that would be a different story. Killer movement usually meant success in ge64, and I think it would be cool to remain that way. The speed just doesn't feel appropriate for a mouse and keyboard to me anymore.

I dont know, maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, anyways take care and thanks for your time KM

ZOMG THIS IS NOT FAST ENOUGH I MUST INJECT POWERTHIRST DIRECTLY INTO MY BLOOD STREEEEM!

There are plenty of fast games.  Goldeneye is not one of them.

LOL. Someone should releases Matrix GE:S. It would be a face to face with Neo and James Bond.

TF2 Scout Speed =/= GE:S Player Speed
Bullet Speed > Player Speed
GE:S =/= The Matrix

Don't mess with the player speed.

Scoot = 400.
Soldier = 240.
Heavy = 230.
Beta 3.1 = 200.
Beta 4 = 172. (Goldeneye 007 standard.)

Whoa...are we really running/walking that slowly in GE:S?
