Post by: double0killa on March 10, 2009, 02:38:04 pm
Ok, i just downloaded the GES yesterday. I am able to join games and all. At this point, i only spectate just to get a feel of whats going on. About 5 min after the game is playing, i get booted out and have to restart my computer. Does anyone know why this is happening.

Thanks

You get booted out? By whom, the admin? Or what, is there a specific sentence given or anything?

Why do you have to restart your computer? do you get any type of error message or do things freeze or..? Trying to get an idea why you need to restart?

the games runs for about 3 min and then a blue screen pops up telling me that windows had to shut down because of a error. at this blue screen, i have to physically turn off my computer and turn it back on. i dont why this is. all i know is i installed HL2. I input my product number on steam. i downloaded the beta mod. at this point, i decided to just see how the game looks. so i join as a spectator and 3 min later, i get the blue screen.

This doesn't have anything to do with the mod.

I suggest you do the following (in order):

1. Try to play HL2 and see if it blue screens
2. Reinstall / upgrade your graphics drivers
3. Reinstall Steam (ENTIRELY)
4. Reinstall Windows

GE:S will NEVER make your computer blue screen, the Source Engine will.

Also, make sure your computer don't overheat. Had some BSOD due to poor cooling a while ago.

Close Steam, delete your .blob file, then restart Steam, before bothering to reinstall Steam.  That usually fixes weird problems.
