Title: Some of GoldenEye Sources History.
Post by: JcFerggy on February 25, 2009, 11:16:37 pm
I was looking around for some sites that talked about GoldenEye: Source, and I found these.

Some really old, but interesting screens.

There's that old AK, it was a real pretty one.

Those screenshots were real old. I remember when they first showed the Bunker ones.

Interesting finds, JC.

Ah, I was meaning to post about a find of mine as well.

Scrolling down, you'll also find a shot of the Cradle which I find the most interesting.

Yikes, I remember all of that. Makes me feel old.

Oh, and my old AK model. I still like that model, lol.

Do you still have the model/skin stored somewhere? That ought to be a custom model for Insurgency or something!

I always liked that model, was my favorite gun in Alpha just because of it(even when I could have used the HaXoR shotgun).

You can always replace the current one with the old, just grab the files from alpha 1.0 and replace the files in beta 3. I wouldn't encourage swapping of models, but hell both are mine :P

Amazing work shown in there. You can get a real perception of the work done from Alpha up to the current release.

The AK sure looks good and the grenade is probably more faithful to the original. You can also see the Golden Gun and how good it looked before (it looks good now too).

oh man, my maps look horrible at that stage. Those were times when I was still stuck in hl1 mapping mode, and couldn't create my own props or textures.

That was a rendered image done from, I believe 3D Studio Max materials and shaders, and wasn't a representation of what it was or did look like in-game, as much as I wish the Source Engine was able to produce.

I know it was rendered in 3Ds Max, but it looked really good anyway. Did you do that model?

No, not that specific model. I did do the material in that render however. The current Golden Gun we are using now was modeled by Saiz and Edited by Myself.

Apparently so. I had no involvement in this, I actually don't like being reminded of how crappy of a modeler I was back than.

It's a way of seeing the progress made by the developers and thinking "I was such a crappy modeler/mapper/texture artist/whatever back then. Now I am much better. I am the best."

It helps boosting your morale.
