Okay, here are system specs.
AMD Athlon X2 6000
A-Bit AN9-32X Mobo
4GB Mushkin High Performance
eVGA 8800GTX
Creative X-fi Xtreme Gamer
Cooler Master 750watt psu
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Issue:
When playing any mod or any game through Steam, I can play for days, no issues. However, with GoldenEye: Source, my computer will randomly shut completely off without any flags or warnings or clues as to why. This puzzles me being that 90% of the games I play are on Steam.
Cooling isn't the issue. My idle/load temps are fantastic. I love the game when it works and I wish I were able to play it for stable amounts of time!
Anyone having this issue? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Brett

Configure Windows to not automatically reboot on errors. Starting in, XP was it?, they made the default behavior be instant-reboot rather than admit to blue-screening since as of XP, Windows is perfect and never has errors. So, turn your BSOD on again and see if you get some info next time it crashes. I'm guessing a driver DLL is snagging somewhere. You are on Creative Labs after all. :D

Okay, I set for BSoD to show, however, there is none when the comp shuts off. Everything stayed exactly the same as before, however, with the exception that this time there was some skipping before the crash (and from my experience it sounded like it may very well be sound-related).
Damn =(

I recommend HT Omega (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=ht+omega&x=0&y=0).
The striker cards are an inferior product; buy Claro, they use quality caps and IC's.

Sounds nice ::) Are they going to top creative becasue they do need it creative are shite these days, I have an X-fi but its starting to crackle after 3 years and since I play mostly source games it doesn't make much difference since source is software sound.
most creative cards are exactly the same except they bundle in the inut things to bump up the price.

I've been on an original Claro for a couple years; and I have had only one problem with it, a slight recording flaw, and I can't blame the card for certain, I never investigated it. My only complaint was no MIDI port, but apparently the new ones have that too, now.
I switched back to Clabs for a very short time to play with the EAX effects and post EAXv2 options, and I ragequited it after about two weeks. I may be buying a new Claro if I get an audio workstation set up. Like I told myself I would a few years ago. I procrastinate so badly.

I really like my Asus Xonar DX.
Its small, pci-x, and awesome sound quality.

I have heard good things about the Asus board; but I have never used one.

Sounds like a hardware issue. For a BSOD, it will cause a reboot, but you're saying it turns off and stays off. The most common cause I've seen for instant shutoff like that has been the power supply. The best way to check would be to swap it out and see if it happens again, but that's a huge pain in the ass.
