If this is true than i might need some help guys. My whole steam-folder just got uninstalled and I cant get to the Steam forums or support site. Now i get an email from steam-support saying my contact-adress was succesfully changed and if i didnt do this i should follow a link. That link leads to the supporft-forum which i cant reach. I might start to panic real soon.

i cant. apparantly the hack includes me not being able to connect to the steam-forums or steam-support site. ill have to try form a different pc.
-
wow you got screwed. did he send you the link in steam chat? did the link open in steam?
-
I would disconnect that pc from the net till you get it fixed. You have no idea what that program was or what it is doing to your private data/comp
-
sounds like he changed your hosts file
goto the windows folder then goto
SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
open and edit the file called hosts and remove any lines that contain steam related items.
you should be able to view the web pages now.

thanks for the help guys, even though i'm ruining this topic. You were right steven, he did screw with my hosts file.
When i was replying a minute ago, this guy took over my PC and started typing IM GAY IM GAY IM GAY so i quickly rebooted my pc. He then had opened a notepad file saying my virusscans and my requests on forums wouldnt help me because he was a pro and there was nothing i could do. He even heard me calling on the phone so apparantly he could even hear everything that went over my mic. I yanked out the net-cable now so i'm safe for now.
I'm now on a laptop typing this and i was wondering: would reinstalling windows help? I have devided my harddisk into 4 partitions with the C: partition for windows. Is it possible that this thing is on a different partition than my windows?
Again, sorry for messing up this topic but i desperately need some help.

Yes and no. You'll still be on Windows, and you'll still be running without a firewall, you'll still leave Remote Desktop enabled, and you'll still be dumb and eating candy given to you by strangers.
Anything is possible once you lose control of your machine, but if you only have normal data (e.g., pictures of cats and Lawrence Welk MP3s) on the other partitions, you are probably okay to keep them. Any software should be re-installed though.

ok thanks for the help.

a clean install of windows after backing up some of the files you want to keep and just after windows install a good free anti-virus such as AVG free edition and a free firewall such as zonealarm or comodo.
then make sure you don't fall for any tricks from people again.
it would also be a smart idea to change all passwords for all Internet accounts you have on a clean pc.

Hey keefer, Click Here to Upgrade UR Flash Playr FREE!!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu_moia-oVI)

And for future reference:
Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services>
Then disable Terminal services and Terminal services Configuration.
This will essentially make remote desktop unusable by yourself or anyone else, and really patches up a big gaping security hole in Windows XP/Vista. I've never really met anyone who uses Windows's built-in remote desktop software for everyday use, so it should be ok to disable.

i was told by a friend who also got nailed that the threat is found by Norton Antivirus, it's called SecurityRisk.URLRedir
just so u guys know =]

I use it every day. It is wikid once setup right but it logs the current user out so he prob has some custom software doing it for him.

I actually do use it, but it's limited to the localhost IP, which I use through SSH for enhanced security/privacy.

There is a Terminal Server patch that allows more than one active session on the workstation (like one Terminal Server user, and one physical user on the same system), but I won't post this here. PM me if you want details.
