so i'm watching a tutorial right now and we're just SETTING UP the weapon to make and making the background plane to work off of.. i open the material editor and click+drag it onto the bubble and i apply it EXACTLY as its telling me to do and im getting this:

instead of the gun appearing there I'm getting swirls >:-O... i have watched the actual gun tutorial and its so simple... but this i dont see why this is getting to me... adding polygons.. mirroring the model to give it two sides.. i get all of that.. it's just SETTING up isnt right... i will feel like a moron when i'm told what to do but ive tried to google but erm.. i'm not 100% on asking so i will ask you fellas..

Possibly your video card just can't handle it? I know on my old ATI x850 card if I turned on high quality rendering mode in Maya it would cover my texture with black distortion similar to that.

:-/ i hope this isnt the problem... i dont know.. anyone using 3ds and know a fix?
i mean it's only a simple jpeg picture to use as a plane?

It took me a few times to read that.... but i gotz ya!
could i get some of the pictures used? like the GE:S Source round/oval logo thinggy :-P
and i guess i'll have to make some banners and stuff >.>
