Title: Interesting GE Find
Post by: Sergeant Kelly on February 09, 2009, 04:17:47 am
Started by a guy named BaxtonLoire: Goldeneye singleplayer on the Source engine.

They're pretty neat in my opinion. He's got some good looking weapon models there and some decent maps as well. Hopefully he'll release these some day in a pack. They sure as hell look fun to play.

Uploaded at the request of a poster from a forum far, far away. :P

Since you're a beta tester, please hammer on at the dev team to make single player.

Someone contact this guy. Seems that plenty of people want Single-Player anyway, if he's willing to do most of the work, with some help from us of course, maybe we just might do that.

If we were to do single-player. I already have some interesting idea's for the direction I'd like for it to go, other then the run-and-gun style that is shown in that video.

I'd love to see some actual implemented game play in here aside of the run and gun fact, it just sounds right?.. :D

Pretty impressive the work he developed there, and even more knowing he did it all by himself. GET THAT GUY!

He could start working on the singleplayer part... and then you would join up and complete it. I'm sure the community would approve and give their full support.

Yeah you should definitely contact him and ask for assistance in a single-player version of the game. Also, if you do end up making SP, you should put in achievements and the ability to check player's single and multiplayer achievements.

Btw, his Resident Evil maps look awesome...

I think he has released some Resident Evil-themed maps or maps for Resident Evil, didn't quite understand which one from the movies Sergeant Kelly posted.

BTW nice sig Sergeant Kelly. I normally don't have to wait that much time.

Guys i hate to burst your bubble but he will likely never work on this, thats why he doesnt respond. I wish that he was a good candidate for our environment, but from what i seen he seems like too much of an ego/loner type. He is also doing quite basic form of SP at the moment and is really just a good all-rounder, not a coder on par with ours. I had some discussions with some GE:S devs and each of them tended to agree. Aside from his being even available and want to work on it, there is also the technical direction which we dont even have planned. So to throw into the mix someone who appears to only want to work on things himself and do things their way, thats not ideal. We are a team and we dont like to "outsource" just to get things done.

He knows about this mod, he obviously is what I think he is unfortunately :P Not dissing the dude, just being wake the realist.

I guess we figured it'd be worth a try anyway. Never know unless we try.
