We need 2 make the sniper a whole lot better than it used 2 be
cuz it didnt look real at all ::)
-
I'm not sure about how the Sniper Rifle looks, when I first played the game, I was impressed by the appearance of most of the weapons. Only was I disappointed when I actually tried to shoot someone with the Sniper Rifle was I disappointed, as after 6 shots to the face, nothing appeared to happen. Now I simply just use my PP7 to snipe people. The Sniper Rifle is the worst of all the weapons when it comes to the hitbox problems, and I would personally recommend you simply don't use either it or the cougar magnum, as neither of those weapons will do any damage unless your opponent is standing completely still and you have about 4 rounds to spare.

well the sniper just looked like a huge donut with a scope

Is it possible to zoom with the sniper rifle in Goldeneye Source?

Hold shift to zoom.

I would hope so, as it is a sniper rifle.
Course, you can set it to any key.
If you mean zooming in and out, no, you can't.
-
Will the feature to be able to zoom in and out be implemented? You could do it in GE64 with the up and down C buttons.
-
Variable zoom is not implemented in B3. It is currently fixed roughtly between AR33 and the GE007 sniper zoom limit.

I wasn't aware that you could zoom at all. Since the mod is in development, and the normal methods that I would think to activate it (right click or z) didn't work, I thought perhaps it wasn't implemented yet. But I see, thanks for clearing it up and about the variable zoom feature.

go into aim mode (hold shift) and it will zoom
-
The thing with the sniper was that the hit's didn't register, and when they did it took 3-4 good shots to kill somebody. Very underpowered, but the new beta looks promising.
-
Hopefully two shots at the most with the sniper rifle should take someone down.
-
Three if they're fully armored and you hit the head. (It was four in GE007)
-
Guess I am getting old :'( I don't remember that.
Or I just play too many other games where it's 2 snipe shots @ the max.
Sounds good either way.
-
Hope the Sniper Rifle gets a buff. I just started practicing sniping in other FPS games.
-
Sniper rilfe was brought down to its current level from a more-buffed state. It will not likely return.
-
the sniper rifle at its current state at long distances is a total beast. there's only a handful of guns in the game that can counter it.
you may not be going "BOOM HEAD SHOT" all day but you will be sniping long distances watching people drop like flies quite often.

and getting achievements ;-)
-
AuG, Premium PP7, CMag, AR33, or RCP90. That's pretty much your only hope against Bishop at long-range.
We already have tester(s) who refuse to play Cradle with Bishop in the loadout; it's getting almost as much hate as Proxy Mines.

And here is one hint for a possible, if not already implemented, achievement.
It's good you didn't make it a messenger of death like the AWP in CS. That gun is just insane. You kill like four people with one round and that is really unbalancing. In no time we would have players roaming around with the sniper, blowing other player's brains off.
The way is was in GE007 is perfect. It somehow prevented you from camping that much because of the damage it made.

So why is it called the Bishop Sniper Rifle?

The likely reason it seemed so balanced was because you had to take about 5 seconds to aim with the controller. The reason I'm worried about it on the PC is because you can aim a whole lot quicker with a mouse, like what happens with the AWP in CSS as previously mentioned.
What's great is this will be a huge step from the Beta 1 Sniper Rifle, which is one of those guns a player typically avoids because it's completely broken (like the CMag).

There is a similar handicap in our game as well. The sniper zoom takes a short time to zoom in all the way (it feels long though), and the crosshair doesn't show up until the scope is fully zoomed. Needless to say, you won't be able to pull off any snap shots like in cs.

Good, that is one of the main reasons why I don't like playing CS.
If anyone knows CSS there is a Gun Game Mod that is awesomely fun to play.
