Well...the little pink floyd wanna be triangle thing just wasn't cutting it for me, so I decided to make some icons real quick. Its up to you guys if you'd like to use them, I think it would add a nice touch to the forums though. I've made the background the current color of the bgrow color on the forum only because it uses gif. If you want to switch up the code a bit, I can post the png's as well with alpha. Happy GE playin' everyone..

I don't like the variation on the symbol, what i mean is it looks like it has an overlay of like a gradient and its really blurry so it is kinda hard to tell what the symbol is. Just fix up some of the things on it. I know someone was working on a ge themed theme for our board I can't remember if that was wake or another dev.

It was me yes who offered and tried making GE:S a theme of their own :P , this was the reskin of black-rain planned, but Sean predominantly said it was too unproffessional, like a fan board would look.

It can be touched up, it isn't close to perfection but has a lot of potential.
As for the new icons educator getting better, but I don't know if I really wanna look at the icon for our mod at the start of every forum, which is why I really liked our old theme we had on our old forums that vanished about 2 years ago.

Educa0R's idea seems neat, and Wake definitely does a good job on web design. :)

I like wakes, reminds me a bit more of the old forums, but with those icons, I think that'd be cool.

I really liked our old theme we had on our old forums that vanished about 2 years ago.

If you read the temp forum, it states how i planned to try and make an SMF version of the Invision powerboard theme as well, from the nickster days, i got all the icons sean could send me from it and i had a screenshot of it to work from, but it just seemed like tooo much work since they are different coding completely :P

Ohhh, I like the woodgrain background, although I think the forum itself should be either a desaturated gold or a kind of greyish base. It kind of looks like a Pudding Lovers Anonymous board

I really like the spacing...not a huge fan of the bar and icon colors, but the template itself rocks. Looks pretty adaptable to match the homepage. Maybe I'll try to throw something together..see what I come up with.

the "online" "calendar" ones? if so, easy fix, there are dozens of themes to choose from that have diff looking icons to try match, i just picked one set at random

One two criticism, using such a light wood (relative to the main area) will tend to draw people eyes to the borders. I guess along with that on my monitor each wood column end up being a three inch wide margin (8 inches of total space around the area that can hold content if you include the black padding), I know how it renders will vary quite a bit on monitor size but 2/5 of screen real estate in this case can never hold content. Granted most text posts this would be affect little, but when full size screen shots are posted it would cause extra scrolling that would have otherwise been unnecessary.

Look at the site, cyan. the forum is wider than the site :P so im not going to change that probly. Additionally, ppl should do thumbnails to show big screenshots as a new window/tab
And the wood is also directly taken from the site.

ok, I had just been comparing it to the current forum size; and what I was saying about the contrast was that either the wood should be darker or the middle should be brighter. After looking at the sit I think the middle should be brighter.

Interesting, id still like to perfect the darker look. I think its getting closer.
Just not convinced the white/yellow approach is worth the time to totally change all ive done. Thats an awefully bright scheme for forums. Something to consider.

to me, that just seems a bit too bright...I remember the old forums were darker, but not entirely black, more like a dark-grey/black, and the old GE forums banner at the top. (the bunker-screenish)

I agree, even the screenshot starts to hurt my eyes if i stare at it long enough. I really like this skin so far (our current one), so unless the forums are going to match the site completely...I think the wood and what not should be ditched.

Eventually, I think we will base a new forum skin around our new website layout, design, and color scheme.
