Title: Global future of the GE:S development
Post by: Sonik on January 29, 2008, 04:14:26 am
I've been wondering about the future development of GE:S. Since I think it's a really wonderful project, I dread the moment it will fade.

So to get to the point, what will happen when, lets say, Half-Life 3 will launch (or any other big-time online FPS)? Do you guys will have to start from scratch or will you be able to adapt the actual version to a newer engine?

Keep up the good work!!!  ;D

I think we will probabily finish Goldeneye source on the ep2 engine and after that when and if half life 3 comes out some of the team may return to make a mod for it, or just let another team do it, kinda like the transition from HL1 to HL2

If the mod is polished enough, I think people will continue playing it even if the graphics will be outdated by then. Thanks to Steam, modding is insanely convenient on the user-end and because of this, it's easy to play.
