The 'best' picture is definatly 8, it shows a clear commitment to extending and realizing concepts which Rare only attempted to address in Goldeneye 64, and doing it with class.

Correct me if I'm wrong but i think i seen the control room WIP screen long before the alpha was out and thought that could possibly be an awesome map and by going off the screenshots you ain't disappointed.

If you look on the right hand side you can see a flood light (similar to those found in de_aztec on CS:S) its flooding the area with HDR light from that tunnel that is dug there ;D

Fourtecks is the one that is actually mapping Control. I still think Baron did a wonderful job with the HDR screenies though :P ;)

Theres a thing holding 2 spotlights sitting on the floor right there. HDR is causing it to bloom up pretty damn bright, I will have to tweak the light power for HDR lightmaps a bit.
edit: just noticed framed responded about it, oh well ;)

Very very hot, I love where this is going. My only concern is how yellow some of the screenies look, but that would just be a change in lighting.

You will have to keep imagining a figure like that, i believe the game is capped at 20 for Beta001, not 100% sure on this fact :P

Well, nothing is capped actually. If you want 30 players you can but we don't recommend it because of how small maps generally are. We recommend somewhere around 16 players max, and maybe a little more on the larger maps.

Well now haha, this is news to me and prob everyone else out there. Id say some map-to-map guide is given in an FAQ release day, so server hosts dont go overboard and instead select a happy medium for all their selected maps. Rather than them thinking w/e and making it 30 promoting laggy play and generally less fun for new people
i'll definitely be making one of my servers like max40 for an hour hahahaha

The only shame is that there isn't a way to recreate the splitscreen chases from the 64 because 1. there are too many people and 2. you can't see the other guy's screen.

Eh...i dont find that a shame at all myself, because these maps and gameplay rock so hard like goldeneye you forget the n64 in a heartbeat and are just like 'WOW fuck! this is goldeneye bitch'

i dont miss split screen at all. while it was cool on a TV with everyone sitting around it, it would kinda ruin the source-experience if you actually had to play with split screen.

I don't know - the green hallway they added looks like it could make the map alot bigger.
