An unsurprising score line there.

It's Yolt. Someone spawns by the power weapon, and everyone else gets their klobbs shot off.  That round gave me the Bishop. The round before that, not so much.

So you lot are going with the bishop name for the sniper rifle i take it ?

I have it so if you win YOLT you get 5 extra points. He only got 2 kills though

Neat radar, but I miss not having it in the top right. :(

I, personally, use the term Bishop to ensure the Goldeneye 007 canon weapon modeled after the Walther WA-2000 and the non-bullpup sniper rifle in Goldeneye Source are distinct.  (It was modeled during the "whatever we dream it should look like" era. That era ended when a monstrosity was called "Klobb" and everyone bricked.)  In addition to the difference in appearance, the GES sniper rifle deals greater damage. This is part of a balance correction I am implementing to keep pistols from exploiting the ease of aiming on PC, and to keep the sniper rifle ahead of the automatics.

Whether or not Bishop Sniper Rifle ever appears in the game is up to KM since he's in charge of breaking and repairing the event notification strings.  I wouldn't be adverse to having both the WA-2000 and Bishop both availiable with the difference being model and damage, similar to the Rocksalt Shotgun and Automatic Shotgun pairing, but that's not a critial concern at the moment.

Neat radar, but I miss not having it in the top right. :(

The Beta 3's HUD is built on complete customization, so with a few changes to the X,Y parameters in the hud_layout.txt file you can have it in the top right if you please. Keep in mind this HUD is not final by any means (I still think it deserves the term primitive)

What about creating an option in the "multiplayer" tab of the options menu to position the radar wherever you want it? (Like a drop down menu with "top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, etc, more user-friendly)

Other than that, the game looks fantastic.

Oh, and I noticed that the Ammo counter looks like beta 1's... as in the amount in your clip is a larger font, while the amount you have to spare is a smaller number off to the right. In GE on the N64, the amount you had in your clip was the same size and the same height from the bottom of the screen as the amount you have extra, separated only by the icon of the ammo type you were using.

Man I can make customization options up the ass hole, but in the end it doesn't change the product we deliver. If you want to change the positions of items I will make a detailed review of the necessary changes to be made in files in our Wiki.

Customization = Work, you can change 2 values much easier then I can code in 50 drop down boxes.

EDIT: Whatcha smokin willis? The ammo font size and y-position is the exact same on both sides of the ammo icon...

I'm pretty sure that's the DD44 (correct me if I'm wrong), but it's probably off to the side because B3 has gun-swaying when you walk (like HL2's guns).

Oh, I see it now. Couldn't tell because it appears to have a new model.

But yeah, Beta 3 is looking nice. I like the radar and Mishkin's and Boris' models. Thanks for the pics.

Nice shots. GES is looking awesome thus far.

Not to nitpick though, the Bullet ammo icon seems to be a little bit too low. Move it up a few notches so it centers with the font of the ammo counters.

I'd say make the dots on the radar just a little more visible.

What's the difference between the timer below the radar and the one on the results screen?
Title: Re: KM Blog - Beta 3 Screens (Dec 7th)

What's the difference between the timer below the radar and the one on the results screen?

The one on the Score/Tab screen is for the level as a whole, before it switches to another. The one on HUD is the current round time. There are multiple rounds during play, not just until the map time expires.

Texture misalignment on corner of railing :-X :P

There's no way to really fix that in hammer. Angled geometry + more angles = death.

12.762 parts for the collission model, seems very fine to meh ;)
It's not the texture, the railing brushes looks like they are not aligned, the right one is a little to low.
The size of the missalignment seems to me < 1 worldunit, so one of the brushes is not on the grid i would say.
First i thought it might have happened while transfering the map from EP1 to EP2, i noticed this missalignment on a few func_detail brushes in my own map, too.
But then i checked the map in beta 1 and it was exactly the same, but only on this site, on the other one the brushes are aligned, but the texture still has little missalignments there too. Same for all of the towers.

TBH i never noticed this little thing whenever i played the map, so it's not that important to me.
But aligning the brushes would be the best choice IMO.

So how has the testing been going? From the sounds of it, seems like you guys are starting to wrap everything up and are probably speculating a release date because each other. Am I right? Can't wait to hear the news when you guys finally decide to tell us all. hehe

So... 33 achievements coded ? For me, that's ennough, since valve released TF2 only whit 12 achievements ( at the begining ).

DD44 look awesome. It also like more powerfull, isn't it ?

Cradle did not change. To bad. I was hoping that you will release the game whit few changes on that map. Wait a minute... no ! That's not true ! I can see that you guys changed the lighting and the texture for the sky. Thank you for that :D !!!

A little question : Did you change thirdperson model ? I mean... Does the hand of the charcter fit whit the gun ? Like in the previous beta, when you where holding a magnum, it was invisible and the hand was placed like if you where holding a shotgun.

Anyway, thanks for this awesome beta ;). I can't sleep whitout dreaming about that.

DD44 is equally damaging as most 9mm weapons. (Exceptional 9mm weapons being Klobb, Phantom, and RCP90.)

Cradle's all twisted around. Fonfie didn't look at the damn schematic. :D

I haven't noticed any worldmodel errors but I wasn't really looking.

I haven't had any trouble but my machine has muscle.

If it's similar to TF2, it's probably orangebox stuff. Fix your settings and it should straighten out.  Unlike Left for Fail, which forces you to use 2010 hardware for good frames, Orange Box games still let you fix things.

Not to bad then tf2 is kind of streamlined on my pc. As long as it hits the magic 60 mark and stays above theres no excuse for missing.

Wow, how different is that from EA games. Not only is the game not rapped in DRM but the lead programed tells you where you can change what you want to.

Uhm, that would be Mishkin.

I see the shotgun in one of those. :)
Will it do more damage than the automatic shotgun, or a little less to match the original?
Having a pump animation on the shotgun would be a bonus as well. (If at all possible.)

Yes, I have a quote book. (Not really, though. More of a .txt file.)

Yeah, I would rather just make changes myself with some guidance than add more development time for 50 drop-down menus.

Looks like it's really coming along. I've been spreading word. (The TC in general, not Beta 3 specifically.)

No pump animation. Since the weapons are staying classic, no second hand will be holding a weapon. It's how Bond rolls.

Boris : a feminine character or as some common folk would say 'pussy'.

Exceptional doesn't imply mean exceptionally good, simply an exception to 9mm being 50% damage to the head.

I see my Klobbering Time achievement in there... AWESOME. And I love the levels of achievements as well. I like this score screen showing who's who in the zoo, that can make things a lot less confusing when you're trying to figure out who that is running around in circles when you're trying to pick them off.

I like the radar, but is there anyway that the user could put it in different places for their liking? Like having the bottom, top, top-left and top-right spots on the HUD availble to host the radar and time? Well, maybe not the top-left due to showing the kills and deaths.

And about the radar, i was about half asleep going through all these so I missed a detail or two. Its good to  hear that people can place it to their liking.

Not to get too far ahead of myself, as I'm guessing Beta 3 is still about a month off, but do you guys have any plans for what the patch will include?

Either way, it looks like the achievements should keep us busy until then. I look forward to spamming proxy mines everywhere. "Guys, it's for an achievement. I had to use them..."

Patch?  This is practically nuke-2-from-orbit-and-pretend-the-nightmare-never-happened.

A month from now, you can expect to know when the release will be.  Whether that will be "ZOMG NOW!" or "a couple weeks" or what is still undecided.  As it stands, there are very few bugs to work on, and we're working on adding, testing, and tweaking features.
