Title: Would like to make an Oddjob skin closer to his N64 look.
Post by: Rukifellth on September 23, 2016, 06:36:35 am
Hi I'd like to try my hand at making a more 64 styled clothes skin for Oddjob, but how do I extract the textures, or where can I find them?

I don't know much about modeling, but I think the following directory is what you might be looking for.

Well I know where the folder is, my problem is extracting the textures from the files. :S

I'd be more than happy if anyone could help with that.

You'll need VTFEdit, which you can download here http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=41

First, make a backup of the original textures just in case something goes wrong.

Open the texture you want in VTFEdit and go to File>Export. Now you can save the texture as an image file for editing in Photoshop, Gimp, etc.

When saving from your image editor, save as a 24 bit or 32 bit .tga with RLE compression turned off.

Converting back into VTF: In VTFEdit, go to File>Import, select your new skin and click ok on the options menu that appears. Then go to File>Save As and give it the same name as the original .vtf. Now just copy the new .vtf to your Oddjob folder and replace the orignal file.

And that's it, you should now see your new texture in the game.
