I need help!
Installed the game and also SDK - the game will not run at all!
When running through steam or via the desktop icon, a little pop up box appears for 1 second.
- it says "Preparing to launch GoldenEye Source (v5.0)
- and then nothing happens.
Already verified the sdk, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and verified the game again.
- still having the same issue, nothing happens
running
- W10 64bit
- 8GB ram
- GTX 970
any help?
-
Would love to play this game
any help?

Did you download the GE:S installer from the torrent or ModDB? Some ModDB downloads are coming out as corrupted because the traffic and slow speed. It may be that, but not sure.
I'll tell those involved on the installer about this and hopefully you'll get a solution soon!

The torrent is the most reliable way to install the game, hopefully it will fix your issue.

try opening source base 2007 on its own first. maybe it needs to install some prerequisites.
-
Good point, I forgot about running SDK 2007 first may fix some issues. Give that a try.

so............
it says
"Preparing to launch GoldenEye Source (v5.0)"
and
"Preparing to launch Source SDK 2007"
- both installed on C and D drives
- has been downloaded multiple times from official site and torrent
- has been verified multiple times

I am experiencing the same issue on my computer as well.
I wanted to test the game on my office computer which is a Win 10x64 system with basic hardware.
Game will not launch at all.
Uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times - same with the SDK.
Windows is up to date along with drivers.
Game was downloaded via the Torrent as well as ModDB to test it.
Thinking about something while writing this.
What is the difference between these three downloads?
Download Torrent - (24973 downloads)
Download Torrent (Client Zip) - (431 downloads)
Download Torrent (Preload) - (41729 downloads)
There is no identification as to whether one is an updated installer or what. To my understanding I should be using "Download Torrent" rather than "Download Torrent (Preload)."
Eventviewer is showing signs of application error as well, see below.
Every time I attempt to launch the application I receive the below event. Each one is the same.

Same issue here.
The reddit link mentions trying to install the 32bit version of Microsoft's 2012 Visual C++ Redistributables. I already have the 64 bits version, that, I believe, is required for other games...

Windir. Fuck yeah.

64-bit MSVC Redist will get you nowhere for a 32-bit binary.......... you need it. If you use the exe installer, it actually installs it for you.
Unless you guys can provide further information about anything unique about your computer, steam configuration, or whatever, there is nothing we can do to help solve your problem.
Analogy- I go to the car repair shop and tell them my car turns on but shuts off after 30 seconds. He asks a couple obvious questions which leads him nowhere, then asks if he can see the car himself. You left your car at home. That is the position we are in right now.

I'm on a laptop
I7-4700HQ
GTX 850M - up to date drivers (even downloaded an update today)
What would you need about the Steam configuration ?

I really am not sure what to ask, without a crash report, error message, or anything else of significance its really a mystery. Clearly its not the mod itself because thousands of people are playing it without any issues. So there must be a unique circumstance that each of you is encountering.
Could it be a bad directx install? maybe
Have you looked in the Windows Event viewer for extra information?
Have you tried to reset your windows files back to normal state using these instructions: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833 ?
