Whats up with Complex?
« on: February 13, 2009, 02:01:51 am »

The map is way too small, you can barely fit down most halls.  Counter Strike: Source has a great version of Complex that is the perfect size.

I have the map from CSS, and if any of the developers want to take a look, I can send it to them.  But as of now, Complex isn't even playable.  The part with the pillars, you can't even move through it.

Another thing that should be changed is you should be able to fall of ledge, you can jump so you can't say you can't fall because GE64 wouldn't let you.

you cant fall on original complex. on the new one you can. larger servers shouldnt play complex map because of respawn issues anyway

The only thing I see wrong with complex is the pillar room. Otherwise it's great, the walking off the edges thing is a godsend, I hated not being able to do that. So what if you fall off into that pit? Watch where you're going. =P

But really, the pillar room could do with half the pillars. Then it would be perfect.

You can fall off ledges?  I can't.

Pillars are a problem and add more spawn points so the total will be 32 infact all maps should have 32 spawns if they have not altready

If there were 32 spawn points, that'd be murder all in its own.

Well the max player limit is 32 so all maps need 32 spawn points to stop players from litterally spawn killing eeach other when a new round starts.

No it wouldnt, it would ensure no spawn issues for the 1-4 servers crazy enough to host GE:S will 32 players. But the patch coming soon fixes the spawn issue anyway.

As for the pillars, i think BOTH versions of complex are going to see a reduction in pillars, not by half but maybe a row on each way and spaced out better. This is both because of public opinion and internal testing we believe both maps could use a pillar room overhaul. Sorry loaf :P

lol 32 spawns points. The first one who pick a gun will dominate the game. Every other one will slap each other.

...

That actually sound great !

It's not just the pillars, the whole thing is too small.

People are missunderstanding.
32 players in the server but only 16 spawn points means 16 players die on round-restart.

Thats an example I have no idea how many spawn points the maps have.

pvtcupcakes, Its complex_CLASSIC, those classic varieties are designed specifically to be scale to the n64 versions.

It is currently, and so the pillar room's size will remain, what is left to help it feel and play bigger is removing a couple pillars.

If so that may be the problem.
