right i installed the beta 1.0 today and i'm very impressed from the old alpha i played.
but how many people are using the 1.1 unoffical patch?
is this why i cant find many servers,, or is it wrong time of the day 3.30 gmt

I think just about everyone is using the patch but I could be wrong there.

I generally find more ppl playing 1.0 than 1.1.

1.1h IS what you want to be playing.
However, my experience in convincing people to download it (often unsuccessfully) tells me that people are scared of upgrading-because it's "unofficial".

I downloaded the 1.1 patch and for some reason I can't get it to work. I also folllowed the notepad of directions, but still no sign of 1.1 on my game list.

If you didn't have 1.1 already you need the download labeled full install. I think the patch is for if you had 1.1 older than version H.

Which is a bit ironic because it's set up not as an upgrade but as a seperate version of the mod completely. it never touches the 1.0 beta files.

Copy past the gesource directory. Rename the copy gesbeta1_1. Next d/l (http://forums.goldeneyesource.com/index.php/topic,1331.0.html) the non exe archive and copy/past its content into the gesbeta1_1 folder. Restart steam.
