Make sure you installed the little Bin Trick:

www.lodle.net/bin.zip

Goes into /orangebox/bin folder on the server.

That's right, I forgot what my original error was.

I followed the instructions to use GCFScape and manually extract the files to fix Invalid Steam Key Size the first time around.  I used lodle's downloads just now, to see if it would fix No Steam Logon but it doesn't look like it.

This was my sequence of events:
  • downloaded hldsupdatetool
  • hldsupdatetool -command update -game tf -dir c:\server to install TF2
  • downloaded and extracted GES Server 3.0beta to c:\server\orangebox
  • Got the errors where it wouldn't load objects
  • applied 3.0 beta patch to c:\server\orangebox\gesource
  • Invalid Steam key size error
  • Used GCFScape to manually extract the dll's and apply them to c:\server\orangebox\bin
  • No Steam Logon

I'm going to install it on my linux box and see if I can replicate this or not.  Thank you to all who replied, they were great suggestions!  This forum has been awesome!  :D

Except for the fact that you use automatics on LTK mode. --> Boooooooooooo!!
I would love to create my own weapon sets eventually, but automatics has been a fun testing set so far. DSKFTW!

Sometimes I switch to KLOBBS! when I'm fealing mean.  Does that make me a bad person?  :P

Well, my linux server is giving the same result.

If anyone wants to test it, try:

jmedia.homelinux.net
76.22.48.168 (ip is variable, the link auto updates)

Has Valve adressed this issue at all by the way? Is there any news? I can't find any from Valve's part.

No its still all quiet on the valve front on this issue.

@Geko010 i have been connected to your server for a while now still have not been kicked with the error yet.

EDIT:

I was connected to your server for almost an hour never kicked with the error.

This is getting ridiculous, a day or three i could've lived with. This is just neglection from Valve to it's customers.

Thanks for testing it steven!  It must only be an issue connecting over LAN...

Players shouldn't have to install a patch.

actually the dedicated server patch from here with the 2 changed files:
http://forums.goldeneyesource.net/index.php/topic,3227.0.html

are actually required for clients to be able to play correctly and see the servers.

Hmmm.. I don't have any patches installed on my install and see all server, and haven't ever been booted do to steam login or anything. Guess some just get unlucky.

Yeah, I dont think its very clear that the client has to install the Dedicated server patch as well.  For instance, my client is patched, and I can connect to my patched server fine, but if I try to connect to an un-patched server, which I have found by using another client which is unpatched, it wont let me connect.  That goes for the un-patched client and my patched server as well.

So, until valve gets their butts around to fixing this, EVERY client and server needs to apply the dedicated server patch, and we can all be happy for a while.
